Outreach

By Silent Renegade

July 28, 2010 – Gary, Gordon, Dave, Sheryl, Regina M traveled to the University of Washington, by invitation, to participate in a Native Youth Summer Education Program. We talked about college, water bottle rockets, our experience at First Nations Launch, and we launched two of our rockets and assisted in student launches.

Afterwards we met with Dr. Robert Winglee and Carlos Chavez, both of the Washington State Space Grant Consortium. We were taken on a tour of their rocket building facilities and had commitments of support from the WSSGC.

Outreach Activities

Indigenous Claimate Change Workshop sponsored by NOAA and NASA. We did a water rocket lesson and demonstration with the participants

Science Saturday workshop was a day of hands-on activities building and flying paper air rockets and water bottle rockets. Students from the tribal school as well as other local schools came for a day of rocket building and flying.

NAR annual convention (NARCON) gave us an opportunity to show off our USLI rocket and team members. We held a hands-on session that had individuals build and fly rockets in the session room (raining outside). A great deal of fun and learning was had by all.
