NWIC Helps Family and Friends keep in Touch with Loved Ones Over Seas

By: Gary Brandt

Northwest Indian College, the Lummi Library at NWIC, and the Lummi American Legion Post #33 have teamed together to create an opportunity for military families to keep in touch with their loved ones through modern technology.

Several computers have been setup with web cameras, headsets and microphones so that Internet communication between family members can take place. Imagine, if you can, that a mother and father can not only speak to their son/daughter, but can also see them while the conversation is taking place.  This can occur between Lummi and Iraq, Lummi  and Afghanistan, or Lummi and anywhere else in the world a US Marine, Navy, Army, Air Force member is stationed.

If this is your first time, please contact Dave Jefferson at the Lummi American Legion Post #33, 384-2283, to make arrangements for the setup. Afterwards, depending upon your comfort level you can do the communication on your own or contact Jason Myers, 392-4274 or Gary Brandt, 392-4318. It’s not hard, it’s fun, and it is so techy that it’s cool!
