CONGRATULATIONS on being accepted as a 2010-2011<\/span><\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0NASA University Student Launch Initiative Team!!<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>I\u00a0will hold a WebEx video teleconference on\u00a0Thursday,\u00a0October 21\u00a0at 2:45 pm Central Time, and\u00a0will send an\u00a0agenda soon.\u00a0\u00a0Your call-in number will be toll-free: 866-642-3290, Passcode: 6660766#.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Please make sure your phone has a mute button.\u00a0 An adult team member is requested to participate in the video teleconference.\u00a0 Other teammates may participate, but it is not required. This will also be the time we test the video teleconference systems to make sure we can connect for the reviews.\u00a0 Directions for connecting to WebEx can be found attached to this email.\u00a0 We are limited to the number of people who may call in, so please only use one phone line per team.\u00a0 If you are unable to make this time, we will have a make-up date scheduled soon.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Your\u00a0Preliminary Design Review (PDR)\u00a0report\u00a0will be due\u00a0no later than November 19.\u00a0 The requirements for the PDR are listed in your\u00a0Advanced Rocketry Workshop notebook (available on the USLI website: <\/span>http:\/\/education.msfc.nasa.gov\/usli<\/span><\/a>), however, you may receive\u00a0minor changes\u00a0within the next two weeks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The team\u00a0website should be available no later than November\u00a01.\u00a0 More information on the website will be discussed during the teleconference on Oct. 21.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>One vital aspect to the continuance of this project is your feedback.\u00a0\u00a0Throughout the\u00a0academic year, we will\u00a0ask that you and your students provide feedback on different aspects\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) project.\u00a0 More information on the feedback will be forthcoming.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Please note:\u00a0The launch dates are SET for April 13-18, 2011. \u00a0If you are unable to participate in USLI because of these dates or for any other reason, let me know as soon as possible.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie Jeffries (copied)\u00a0is the technical coordinator for the NASA Student Launch Projects. Eddie is an engineer on the NASA Jacobs Engineering Services and Technical Support contract and has experience with high-powered rocketry.\u00a0 He will be providing your team feedback on your team\u2019s proposal and upcoming reports. \u00a0While your team has been accepted in USLI, there may be changes that NASA may require to your proposed rocket and payload.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

For teams that proposed for the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) payload option:\u00a0 With this email, your team has been accepted into USLI, but may or may not receive the $5,000 SMD-directed payload.\u00a0 You will receive a separate email regarding this at a future date.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
