The levees will be removed this summer, and it\u00a0is projected that sediment from the mouth of the Stilliguamish river, located\u00a0to the south of this site, will be less restricted and able to move northward.<\/p>\n<p>We will be helping\u00a0collect data on\u00a0vegetation monitoring as part of our lab for this course.\u00a0 This information can be used over time as the\u00a0waterflow changes\u00a0over time and in comparison with an intact estuary system to the south.\u00a0 Although we had a rainy day it was interesting to see the project site and get a better understanding\u00a0of the restoration research needs.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to visiting Port Susan Bay again this spring!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Plant Biology class visited The Nature Conservancy&#8217;s restoration project at Port Susan Bay outside of Stanwood, WA.
