This area will be used for service learning in the <strong>Plant Biology class <\/strong>and <strong>Honor the Gift of Food <\/strong>class next quarter.\u00a0 We even were able to plant a few berries (currants and blueberries) along side the beds.\u00a0 There is a lot of more work to do, but with the quarter come to an end soon it was good to get started.\u00a0 The mulch was provided at a generous rate from BTI landscape supplies in Burlington, WA and we will be getting soil donations from a local farmer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nwic.edu\/swinomish\/files\/2012\/03\/seeds.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-21\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.nwic.edu\/swinomish\/files\/2012\/03\/seeds-e1331245041383-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Can you guess what seed this is?<\/p>\n<p>It is grown locally in\u00a0Skagit county?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you want to help with the garden, please get in touch with\u00a0Gaylene at <a href=\"mailto:ggobert@nwic.edu\">ggobert@nwic.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the break of sunshine we had this week we were able to start getting the mulch spread and the garden beds installed in the food garden area.
