The Service Learning faculty advisory board have developed and  approved this.<\/p>\n<p>This is being presented to Curriculum Committee meeting for review.<\/p>\n<p>The next step will be for faculty to determine which courses they teach  that meet this criteria. The goal is to identify those courses in the  new catalog with the designation of ISL<\/p>\n<p>After this is accepted, the next step is to identify the steps to include this into the new catalog.<\/p>\n<p>So here they are.\u00a0 Please review them prior to the next meeting.\u00a0 AND THANK YOU!<\/p>\n<p>Essential Characteristics of Indigenous Service Learning<\/p>\n<p>Indigenous Service Learning involves:<\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Connection to specific course outcomes;<\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Meet[ing] identified community or campus needs;<\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Project proposals with measurable goals;<\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Connection and collaboration with community or campus partners;<\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Completion of direct and indirect service hours as determined by the student and instructor;<\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Periodic meetings with the instructor and partner to review project development;<\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Individual or group projects; and<\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Written and oral reflection on the Indigenous Service Learning experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This topic has been discussed and postponed at previous meetings.\u00a0 Attached is the document that Ane Berrett provided at the last meeting in which this topic was discussed.
