Hello and Good Day everyone;
Just a “heads up” and reminder that Summer Quarter registration is still in progress. The Tribal Casino Management Program is offering HRCM 101: Introduction to Hospitality Management over summer quarter. All (HRCM) Hospitality, Resort and Casino Management course descriptions are located in the college catalog on pages 88 and 89. You may also find additional information on the TCMP Blog . You will find the 101course syllabus and Fall Quarter TCMP class offerings in the Course Description section of the blog.
HRCM 101 is delivered as a Hybrid Online Class. You will conduct most of your work independently in the Moodle Classroom with access 24/7. You are also required to join & meet twice each week in live video conferences online. Technology is an integral function of the delivery of the hybrid course. A headset with microphone and a webcam are required. Access to high speed internet is required. You may attend from almost anywhere as long as you have a good internet service provider. The location should be quiet and background noises need to be minimized so the high definition recording of the conference is preserved. This is for your benefit as recordings will be reused.
The summer quarter is 6 weeks in length beginning July 1st. Attending each video conference is important. Your attendance, participation and collaborative efforts are at the core of the Tribal Casino Management Program and good business practices as well. Meeting times and days are determined by the class. Initially the first week I will hold orientation sessions on Tuesday July 2nd at 2-4 PM and Wednesday July 3rd at 5-7 PM and will poll the students for the best windows of time to meet in conference. There are no classes on the 4th or 5th.
I will utilize the class enrollment roster to send meeting links for the initial live video conferences and orientations. For those individuals that you may know of and feel are interested in sitting in on a free TCMP video conference (orientation); have those individuals email me with a personal email and telephone number and I will contact them and forward a private invitational link to the live video conference orientation. This is free to anyone that is invited. It also includes any student at NWIC. The technology requirements are the same.
Of great importance; I’m reaching out to those of you that have been in the program to create awareness and asking you to participate in this particular “marketing piece” involved with the TCMP Program. You helped build it, shape it and develop it where is currently resides. As many of you know the program is transitioning from the Co-operative Extension and Community Education Department to the new Tribal Governance and Business Management Program. I know that many of you have declared to move into the four year degree program. Congratulations and hopefully I will be one of those admiring individuals that will be observing you and the academic excellence you demonstrated to each of your instructors and teammates in the two year program. Continue the Leadership you’ve demonstrated. You’re so important to your family, community and the generations to follow you.
I look forward to seeing some of you for summer quarter, many more for fall quarter and hopefully many new faces that we get to work with. Contact your advisor for questions or contact me please. Have a great summer! Frank
