Her research   interests include water\/wastewater treatment and reuse, endocrine disruption,   analytical and environmental chemistry, and metal resistance systems in   bacteria. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in Chemical   and Environmental Engineering, as well as Master&#8217;s degrees in Environmental   Engineering and Chemistry.<\/p>\n<p>She completed a postdoctoral co-appointment in the departments of   Chemistry and Biochemistry and Soils, Water, and Environmental Science at the   University of Arizona. Prior to that, Otakuye was a project engineer at the   County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, where she studied odor   control in wastewater treatment systems.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, she was a Research Fellow at the National Congress of American   Indians where she evaluated climate and renewable energy policy and   adaptation affecting tribal nations. Dr. Conroy teaches Introduction to   Environmental Engineering I and II, Environmental Biotechnology, and   Environmental Pollution.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"140\" valign=\"top\">Shandin Pete<\/td>\n<td width=\"63\" valign=\"top\">Instructor SKC<\/td>\n<td width=\"64\" valign=\"top\">Confirmed<\/td>\n<td width=\"44\" valign=\"top\">Ap 7, 2011<\/td>\n<td width=\"166\" valign=\"top\"><strong>Shandin Pete<\/strong> is a tribally enrolled   member of the Salish Kootenai Tribe. He received his bachelor&#8217;s degree in   environmental science from Salish Kootenai College in 1996. He will receive   his master&#8217;s degree in geology from UM in fall 2005. His goal is to pursue a   career in hydrologic research with faculty affiliation at Salish Kootenai   College. Shandin was awarded a $25,000 fellowship from the Graduate School   for academic year 2005-2006. His award is from a Department of Energy grant   that supports research in radioactive contamination in groundwater and the   subsurface soils. Shandin is married and is the father of three daughters.
